Introduction

The Licensure Process

Licensure is the process by which an agency of state government or other jurisdiction grants permission to individuals to engage in the practice of a particular profession, vocation, or occupation, and prohibits all others from legally practicing that profession. By ensuring a minimum level of competence, the licensure process protects the general public. It is the state regulatory agency that is responsible for establishing the acceptable level of safe practice and for determining whether an individual meets that standard.

The state of Arkansas has retained the services of Assessment Systems, Inc. (ASI), a Harcourt Company, to develop and administer their insurance licensing examination program. ASI is one of the leading providers of assessment services to regulatory agencies and national associations and provides licensing and credentialing support services to associations, state agencies and private industry.

The EXPro Testing System

Your examination will be administered on an electronic testing system called EXPro. The EXPro testing system eliminates the use of paper and pencil answer sheets. Examination questions and answer options are presented on a touch sensitive screen. A computer memory card records your responses and automatically times the examination. EXPro allows you to change your answers, skip questions, and mark questions for review. Knowledge of computers and typing is absolutely NOT required.

EXPro Electronic Testing System

Your examination is scored immediately after you complete it. You leave the ASI Assessment Center with your official scores in hand. EXPro testing provides flexible examination scheduling at ASI Assessment Centers conveniently located throughout the state. ASI Assessment Centers comply with ADA regulations and standards for accessibility.

Eligibility for Testing

The Arkansas Insurance Department requires a specific program of prelicensing education for candidates seeking licensure in Life/Disability and/or Multi-Line insurance. Please refer to Licensing Requirements on page 2.
